Why study in the School of Social Transformation?

Welcome to the School of Social Transformation—and the online home for the school's Office of Student Engagement and Academic Services!

As the nation's first School of Social Transformation, we bring together interdisciplinary fields to integrate the study of gender, race, and class with an eye toward finding just solutions to complex social problems. We address critical social issues through our four exciting academic areas of interest: African and African American studies, Asian Pacific American studies, justice and social inquiry, and women and gender studies.

Stop in and find out more in Wilson 125, or call 480-965-7682 to make an advising appointment.

Professional advisors are available to assist you

During your academic career, professional advisors will discuss your schedule with you, help you select courses and assist you in understanding university policies. You'll be assigned a permanent advisor based on your degree program. You should meet with your advisor early and often.

Your advisor's role

One of the roles of an advisor is to give you current and correct information about ASU and to make appropriate referrals. You can expect your discussions to remain confidential.

Your role

Of course, it's you who is responsible for your academic progress. You must make decisions based on the information, alternatives, limitations and possible consequences you explore with your advisor. Once you are enrolled at ASU, you can change your major or add a minor or certificate by going to the advising office of your new major or minor/certificate. You will be reassigned to a new advisor when you change your major.
